John F. Dullea is a seasoned, award-winning executive with global experiences in many business and operational arenas. Having started his professional career in 1977 as a research scientist on improved energy efficiency and alternative energy sources, he moved into the OEM world by joining Motorola, Inc as a senior process and development engineer. He was a major contributor in the development of RF and piezoelectric technologies and products before moving into manufacturing operations and, ultimately, business management. Over his twenty-two-year career with Motorola, John was engaged with many businesses and technologies around the world, including components, pagers, two-way radios, and cellular telephones. He was part of the manufacturing exodus to China, establishing and managing multiple plants there. He played crucial executive roles in the deployment of lean concepts, automation, empowered workforces, model factories, plant expansions, and new facility design and startup. John established and grew multiple new businesses and held P&L responsibilities for many others. He established a global sales organization, which supported some of these businesses. John was a recognized leader, winning two prestigious CEO Quality awards and a Corporate Manufacturing Council award for major paradigm shifts in organizational and operational development with impressive business results.
John moved from the OEM world to the EMS world when he joined Sanmina (then SCI Systems) in 1999 as VP and Plant Manager of its flagship U.S. plant in Huntsville, Alabama. This tight margin, extremely competitive arena fit well with John’s ingrained sense for cost-improvement and avoidance. He deployed a new culture and implemented organizational and business process changes contributing to the plant doubling its revenue and achieving record profitability over his duration as manager. His proven people skills and knowledge were vital in such a transformation. After the merger of SCI and Sanmina, John moved into an operationally-oriented account management role where he managed all aspects of the sales role for one of the company’s largest customers while managing the operations and P&Ls of the supporting plants and growing to be the largest account in the company. He managed this account until moving into an organizational development role, focusing on introducing processes to other plants that had been so successful in his own. He retired from Sanmina recently after seventeen years to start Golden Reapers Consulting, Inc.
John has an extremely diverse background and skill set. He has a mature understanding of the inter-workings of business and operations and has been able to develop many others in this area. He has served in sales, account management, business management, operations management, manufacturing, and engineering. He was deeply engaged in the Six Sigma revolution and was considered a black belt even before the name was created. He is uniquely able to see the customer’s perspectives and build them into operations and culture. He has been exposed to and involved with the latest manufacturing technology and principles and has been a powerful leader in human capital development.
